Dr. Lionel Wu

MBBS (Hons), BMed.Sci, DCH (SYD), FRACGP, DPD (ACD)
After completing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 2005, Dr Lionel Wu has undergone specialist GP training in various hospitals and GP clinics throughout Melbourne before acquiring his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2009. During his training in General Practice, he has undertaken additional training in the field of Paediatric with Westmead's Children's Hospital at the Univresity of Sydney where he was awarded the Graduate Diploma in Child Health in 2007 and since then he has been practicing predominantly as a Paediatric GP in Melbourne in addition to his general practice work.
As part of his general practice work, Dr. Lionel Wu also conducts regular health assessment, employment medicals, pregnancies, contraceptive advice, mental health consultation and minor surgeries such as implanon insertion and removal and skin cancer assessment and surgeries.
Dr. Wu is also a senior examiner for the Royal Australian Colleges of General Practitioners.
Apart from English, Dr. Lionel Wu is fluent in Mandarin and Hokkien.

Dr. Maya Hartono

B. Med. Sc, MBBS (Melb Uni), FRACGP
Dr. Hartono graduated from Melbourne University in 2006. She spent few years of training with Monash Hospital before decided to do general practice. She enjoy caring for patients of all ages and background with a wide range of medical problems. She values continuity of care in her practice, getting to know patients and emphasize in preventative medicine. She is interested in all aspect of general medicine, children's health, women's health including pap smear, implanon insertion/removal, travel medicine and mental health. She spend most of her time with her two kids when not working. She speaks fluent English and Indonesian.

Dr. Josh Ng

B. Med. Sc, MBBS (Melb Uni), DCH, FRACGP
Josh graduated from Melbourne university in 2006 and has gained vast inner metropolitan and rural experience while undergoing GP training program in Victoria. He enjoys all aspect of General Practice and has particular interests in children’s health, sexual health, skin cancer and minor surgical procedures including implanon insertion and removal. He is also a certified prescriber of medical termination. Dr Ng hold qualification as designated Aviation-Medical examiner (DAME).
He speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.

Eliza Chan (Qualified Acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine practitioner)

Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) from RMIT University
Eliza Chan is a fully qualified Acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and is an accredited member of the following associations:
• Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA)
• The Federation of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Societies of Australia (FCMA)
Having previously worked in a corporate environment, she can relate to the stresses it can bring to our body. She believes that mental health, lifestyle (including diet) and environment can all contribute to our physical health. Taking a holistic approach, Eliza is a dedicated and gentle practitioner with experiences and special interests in pain management, autoimmune disease support, women’s health, emotional conditions such as stress, anxiety and insomnia, skin disorders, skin rejuvenation, weight loss and general wellbeing. Eliza graduated from the five-year Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) from RMIT University with Distinction, complementing her knowledge from university with internships at the prestigious Jiangsu Provincial Chinese Medicine Hospital in Nanjing, China, and Tzu Chi Hospital in Taipei, where she saw a very wide range of conditions and learnt about different approaches to treatment. She has also completed Level 1 MAHA aromatherapy and taken specialist courses in Dr. Cheng’s acupuncture, facial acupuncture and Dr. Shou’s pulse taking method etc. She continues to go abroad to study from renowned experts during her break in order to provide better treatments for patients. She is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese.

Our Nurses

Mari (Practice Nurse)

B.Nursing, BH(HlthPromEd). (Australian Catholic University)

Mari commenced her nursing career at the Tokyo Medical University Hospital in Shinjuku, Japan, specialising in the care of burns patients. On arrival in Australia Mari completed her Bachelor of Nursing at Australian Catholic University, enabling the continuation of her career as a Registered Nurse (Div. 1) at St Vincent’s Private, Western Health, and The Valley Private Hospital. Across these three hospitals Mari has gained experience in the care of orthopaedics, neurology, urology, ENT, and gastroenterology patients. Mari speaks both English and Japanese.

日本では東京医科大学病院で、6年間働き、オーストラリアにおいては、オーストラリアカソリック大学卒業後、セントビンセントプライベート病院、ウエスタンヘルス、バリープライベイト病院にて働きました。整形外科、神経外科、泌尿器科、消化器外科、耳鼻咽頭科、熱傷病棟にて経験をつみました。日本とオーストラリアにおいて20年の看護経験があり、日本、オーストラリア両方の経験を生かした看護を行なっています。

Megumi (Practice Nurse)

B.Nursing, College of Nursing Art and Science, University of Hyogo

Megumi’s nursing career started at Toranomon Hospital in Tokyo, Japan. After achieving Division 1 nurse registration at Deakin University in Victoria, Megumi went on to practice at St.Vincent’s Hospital and the Valley Private Hospital. Viewing Melbourne as one of the most harmonious and culturally diverse cities, Megumi enjoys communicating with people from a variety of cultures. Megumi speaks Japanese and English fluently, and is currently learning Mandarin.

Our Admin Team

Miyuki (Practice Manager)(ON INDEFINITE MATERNITY LEAVE)

B.S. (Melb)
Miyuki was originally trained as an Engineering scientist with a Japanese International Company based in Sydney. She joined the practice in 2014 and with her experience in planning and practice management skills she was solely responsible in the setup of the Clinic. We were fortunate to have her on board with us at Medifirst Family Clinic. She oversees the running of the clinic and if there are any concerns arising from the consultation, she will be the best person to contact.

Susan Ng (Receptionist)

Diploma of Children's services
Susan is an experienced receptionist with over 20 years experience in customer service. Susan strives to provide patients the best customer service possible and enjoys communicating with people of all backgrounds. She speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien, Hakka and Malay.

Cynthia (Receptionist)

Cynthia has had medical training in China, she previously worked in pharmacy for many years before joining the Medifirst family clinic. She loves to help people from different cultural backgrounds. She also speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Stacy (Receptionist)

Stacy has many years experience working as a receptionist in Taiwan and Australia. Her years in customer service industry also developed her communication skills and love to help those in need. Adhearing to a service oriented philosohy she has joined the Medifirst team to help people with their medical requirments. Stacy speaks fluent English, Manadrin and Hokkien.
